When Gary Erickson reaches for the umpteenth energy bar he is carrying with him on a bike ride in 1990, its bland flavour prevents him from taking even one more bite despite his hunger. As the future founder of CLIF Bar is convinced that he can do better, he experiments in his mum's kitchen to create the perfect sports nutrition. After several attempts, the CLIF Bar recipe was found; the flavour, consistency and nutritional values were just right. In 1992, the product is ready for the market and immediately inspires cyclists, recreational athletes and track and field athletes. This is not the only thing that has not changed to this day. CLIF Bar is still family-owned and is known for its sustainable products and social commitment.
